London open: Stocks rise amid hopes of end to US govt shutdown

(Sharecast News) - London stocks shot higher in early trade on Monday amid hopes the longest US government shutdown in history could be coming to an end.
At 0830 GMT, the FTSE 100 was up 0.7% at 9,750.04.
